This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio, +4 more states.
• Conduct field assessments of erosion and sediment control measures on both linear and site-specific construction projects.
• Examine specifications, permits, permit stipulations, erosion and sediment control plans, and stormwater management plans.
• Compile and evaluate periodic monitoring reports based on field observations, submitted in either paper or electronic formats.
• Assist in the preparation of environmental reports, permit applications, and closeout requests, which include wetland and stream delineation reports, erosion and sediment control plans, and sound studies.
• Comply with health and safety regulations set by GAI and clients.
• Uphold QA/QC standards while adhering to GAI and client quality management protocols.
• Act as a field lead with limited supervision on designated tasks.
• Perform technical analysis and documentation.
• Travel to project sites across the Upper Midwestern and Mid-Atlantic regions, potentially requiring overnight stays.
• Manage personal assignments effectively and adhere to deadlines and project scopes.
• Collaborate with internal project team members to facilitate ecological field data collection, wetland delineations, and regulatory agency submissions.
• Two to four years of proven experience in environmental field monitoring, with a minimum of 2–3 years in a related role.
• Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Sciences, Environmental and Earth Science, or a closely related field.
• Understanding of erosion and sediment control best management practices (BMPs), including their design and maintenance needs.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills alongside strong technical writing capabilities.
• Proficient in the use of electronic location tools, such as GPS or GPS-enabled devices, for collecting project-location data.
• Skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other MS Office applications.
• Familiar with report writing, database management, and form completion via MS Word applications, including Access and SQL, as well as online platforms.
• Possess a valid driver's license and the ability to pass necessary screenings to operate a GAI vehicle.
• Willingness to travel frequently for regional fieldwork, with expectations of 4–5 days of travel per week throughout the year.
• Capability to walk moderate distances through undeveloped terrain and utility rights-of-way.
• Able to lift weights up to 50 pounds.
• Capacity to detect and visualize potential hazards during fieldwork or site inspections.
• Must successfully clear a drug screening.
• Preferred qualifications include knowledge of NPDES regulations and permitting, environmental agency E&S guidelines and BMPs, SWPPP, NPDES permit applications, development of erosion and sediment pollution control plans, Phase I/II environmental site assessments (ESAs), hazardous waste due diligence, waste management, AutoCAD, GIS/ArcGIS, air compliance, spill response planning, Section 401/404 permitting, stream and wetland surveys, and delineation methodologies.
• Preferred certifications/training include Qualified Environmental Inspector (PA), Responsible Person for Erosion and Sediment Control (MD), CESSWI, ASTM Phase I ESA, RCRA, HAZWOPER, and OSHA.
