This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Provide guidance on creating salary bands and compensation frameworks.
• Design or assess job architecture and leveling systems.
• Evaluate how levels align across various functions and roles.
• Create compensation strategies that can grow with the organization.
• Convert compensation philosophy into actionable program design.
• Advise on annual merit and compensation review procedures.
• Assess frameworks for promotions and salary adjustments.
• Review the structure of bonus programs and the criteria for decisions.
• Examine equity refresh strategies within the context of broader compensation cycles.
• Develop or evaluate peer-group benchmarking methods.
• Analyze market compensation data and competitive positioning.
• Justify and clarify benchmarking decisions to senior stakeholders.
• Design or assess incentive structures that align with organizational goals.
• Design or evaluate stock option and RSU programs.
• Create grant guidelines and frameworks for equity allocation.
• Provide advice on equity pool planning and vesting structures.
• Consult on 409A valuations, equity plan governance, and grant administration.
• Develop or review models that explain employee and candidate equity value.
• Simplify complex equity concepts for clear communication.
• Offer counsel on compensation philosophy and wider Total Rewards frameworks.
• Assess approaches to pay equity and pay transparency.
• Support compensation design for global or contractor workforces.
• Review benefits strategy, HRIS, and relevant compensation tools.
• Provide guidance on executive compensation and IPO readiness when applicable.
• Offer actionable recommendations based on prior program management experience.
• Engage in a brief screening process and potentially a paid consultation focused on a current Total Rewards issue.
• Proven experience as a Total Rewards, Compensation, or Equity professional.
• Extensive practical knowledge in compensation design and architecture or equity program management.
• Relevant experience in building salary bands, leveling frameworks, or job architecture from scratch is crucial.
• Significant experience managing annual compensation cycles, including merit, promotion, bonus, or equity refresh decisions, is crucial.
• Valuable experience in developing and justifying market benchmarking methodologies.
• Experience in designing incentive programs is considered valuable.
• Highly relevant experience with options, RSUs, grant guidelines, pool planning, vesting, 409A valuations, governance, or grant administration for equity-focused professionals.
• Broader experience in pay equity, pay transparency, global compensation, contractor compensation, benefits, HRIS, executive compensation, or IPO readiness is a plus but not mandatory.
• Strong ability to clearly articulate complex compensation and equity decisions to senior stakeholders, candidates, and employees.
• Must complete work without using any confidential or proprietary information belonging to any employer, client, institution, or third party.
