Community Engagement Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop written and video tutorials to assist researchers in utilizing Velsera platforms, such as the National Cancer Institute’s Cancer Genomics Cloud and the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute’s BioData Catalyst.

• Organize and facilitate training sessions and workshops for user groups consisting of 5 to 100 participants.

• Communicate the benefits of Velsera platforms to the research community at conferences, workshops, and consortium meetings.

• Formulate a strategy aimed at expanding the user base.

• Proactively engage with communities of interest to demonstrate how Velsera platforms can support their research endeavors.

• Interact with platform users to grasp their research inquiries and assist them in conducting studies effectively.

• Assess users’ requirements and incorporate their feedback into the Velsera product roadmap.

• Operate independently while taking ownership and accountability for achieving milestones.

⛳️ Requirements

• Exceptional communication skills suitable for a diverse audience, including users, researchers, funding agencies, and internal stakeholders.

• Background in conducting genomics experiments or analyzing omics data (e.g., RNA-seq, Exome-seq, ChIPseq, proteomics, imaging analysis, etc.).

• Passion for teaching and the ability to simplify complex technical concepts for a broader audience.

• A PhD or MS in genomics, bioinformatics, molecular biology, engineering, or a related field is required.

• Proficiency in programming with R and/or Python.

• Understanding of the clinical applications of genomics across various therapeutic areas and awareness of the challenges researchers face when integrating genomics into clinical workflows.

• Experience with large-scale -omics data processing in cloud environments and/or high-performance computing.

• Previous experience in conducting workshops, user groups, or other large user-engagement events is preferred.
