Community Engagement and Advocacy Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take charge of and expand the Tailscale Insiders advocacy program, encompassing strategy, operations, engagement, recruitment, onboarding, recognition, and performance measurement.

• Cultivate relationships with Insiders and create avenues for speaking opportunities, technical content, community events, product feedback, and testing.

• Oversee Tailscale's Discord and Reddit communities, which includes engagement initiatives, AMAs, discussions, member spotlights, moderation, coordinating volunteer moderators, and addressing sensitive issues.

• Collaborate with Product, Marketing, Developer Relations, Engineering, and Support teams on community engagement, launches, announcements, and company projects.

• Observe community conversations, feedback, and engagement metrics to uncover trends and guide strategy, product decisions, and program enhancements.

• Manage and develop the Community Projects program, which involves project discovery, submission, review, tracking, showcasing, and recognizing contributors.

• Work with internal teams to transform community projects into technical content, demos, documentation, social media content, and showcases.

• Monitor program activities, contributions, engagement, and results, and effectively communicate the program's impact.

⛳️ Requirements

• 3–5+ years of experience in community management, advocacy, community programs, developer communities, or similar roles.

• Proven track record in owning and developing community programs, including initiative development, stakeholder coordination, and driving engagement.

• Demonstrated ability to form meaningful relationships with community members, advocates, contributors, and internal teams.

• Experience in managing and moderating online communities, including setting community guidelines and using moderation tools.

• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

• Strong organizational and program management skills, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and navigate through ambiguity.

• In-depth understanding of community engagement and advocacy.

• A genuine curiosity for technology and a keen desire to learn about Tailscale's products and community.
