This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Report directly to the Coalition Coordinator.
• Engage in selected meetings and consultations to gain insights into Coalition priorities, relationships, audiences, communications capacity, and context.
• Develop and enhance the communications infrastructure that supports coordinated communications, collective advocacy, and partner engagement.
• Evaluate existing communications channels, audiences, assets, tools, and capacity within member organizations.
• Create processes for planning, coordinating, and disseminating Coalition communications.
• Empower member organizations to share stories, updates, and communications content.
• Design tools, templates, and guidance for participation in and amplification of Coalition communications and advocacy efforts.
• Establish and maintain strategic contact lists and communications networks.
• Convert Coalition data, research, key messages, and advocacy priorities into accessible materials, such as infographics, reports, photos, social media content, and short-form videos.
• Identify, gather, and develop narratives that showcase member organizations’ local impact and the collective value of the community health and resource center model.
• Create versatile content and templates for the channels of member organizations.
• Coordinate the sharing and amplification of priority Coalition content.
• Enhance the Coalition’s presence on social media platforms.
• Support selected communications campaigns and engagement initiatives.
• Produce narratives in written, graphic, photographic, video, report, and social media formats.
• Implement principles of consent, equity, accessibility, confidentiality, and ethical storytelling.
• Establish systems and metrics to monitor communications reach and engagement across various channels, including website, social media, email, and media coverage.
• Analyze communications data, identify trends and opportunities, and refine strategies and engagement methods.
• Prepare recommendations for future communications priorities, tools, resources, and investments.
• Collect, analyze, and report on communications data and information.
• Participate in meetings, collaborative working groups, and organizational initiatives.
• Contribute to work plans, outcome measures, policies, procedures, and program reports.
• Engage in required training and professional development activities.
• A degree or diploma in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, digital media, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Three to five years of relevant experience in communications.
• Proven experience in developing or enhancing communications processes, tools, systems, or infrastructure.
• Experience in crafting communications materials for diverse audiences across multiple channels.
• Proficient in developing digital content, including social media posts, website content, graphics, photography, and video.
• Experience in collaborative work across organizations, networks, coalitions, or community partnerships.
• Familiarity with utilizing communications analytics to track reach, engagement, and content performance.
• Experience contributing to strategic communications initiatives within a strategic context.
• Background in community-based organizations or in social services, advocacy, public policy, or government relations is advantageous.
• Proficient in using social media platforms, website content management systems, Canva or Adobe Creative Suite, email marketing tools, and communications analytics tools.
• Strong oral and written communication skills in both English and French.
• Excellent written, verbal, technical, and creative communication abilities.
• Strong skills in content development and storytelling.
• Sound judgment and the ability to navigate organizational context, nuances, and sensitivities.
• Strong organizational and project management capabilities.
• Ability to build and sustain collaborative relationships with staff, volunteers, partners, and representatives from various organizations.
• Understanding of equity, community engagement, accessible communications, confidentiality, consent, and ethical storytelling practices.
• Capacity to work independently while effectively collaborating within a coalition and community-based environment.
• Flexibility and adaptability in addressing emerging communications opportunities.
• Ability to safeguard confidential organizational, employee, partner, and community information.
