This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Zambia.
• Collaborate with the CEO to draft op-eds, speeches, presentations, and various written materials.
• Prepare leadership for participation in panels, conferences, and sector dialogues.
• Assist other organizational leaders in creating communication materials.
• Develop, implement, and oversee a comprehensive communications strategy.
• Ensure consistency in messaging, talking points, boilerplate content, tone, visuals, and narratives.
• Manage a content calendar that includes milestones, government engagements, donor cycles, and learning outputs.
• Take ownership of the annual speaking and event calendar and track the ROI of thought leadership initiatives.
• Oversee the end-to-end production of annual reports and organizational collateral.
• Guide external designers, photographers, and videographers in their work.
• Establish production systems, calendars, review processes, and templates.
• Foster proactive media engagement and manage relationships with external PR counsel.
• Create media moments around key milestones, launches, and evidence releases.
• Prepare leaders for interviews and press opportunities.
• Coordinate media and government relations in collaboration with the Advocacy and Government Engagement team.
• Act as the primary point of contact for incoming press inquiries.
• Manage Healthy Learners' online presence through its website and various channels.
• Capture impact stories, photos, and videos in collaboration with field teams.
• Utilize analytics to refine the communications strategy and expand reach.
• Translate data and evidence into briefs, infographics, and summaries.
• Enhance internal knowledge sharing through the development of tools and templates.
• Maintain quality standards while collaborating with communications and Development writing teams.
• Partner with Development on donor materials, impact reporting, and campaign initiatives.
• Oversee the daily operations of the communications function in conjunction with the Chief of Staff and CEO.
• A minimum of 6–9 years of professional experience in strategic communications, public relations, or content production.
• Ideally, experience in global health, education, or international development.
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related discipline.
• A Master’s degree is considered a plus.
• A portfolio showcasing flagship publications that you have personally produced from start to finish.
• Proven excellence in writing, editing, and storytelling for diverse audiences including donors, governments, media, and the public.
• Strong design sensibility and familiarity with tools such as Canva or Adobe Suite.
• Capability to guide professional designers effectively.
• Excellent project management skills, including the ability to manage freelancers, budgets, and multi-stakeholder review processes.
• Experience in translating technical or programmatic information into engaging, accessible materials.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and cultures.
