Communications & Datalinks Systems Engineer 4

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.

📋 Description

• Design tactical communications and datalink architectures, including Link 16, TTNT, UHF/VHF.

• Integrate Open Mission Systems (OMS) along with open architecture standards.

• Conduct system analysis, define interfaces, and develop mission threads.

• Coordinate allocations of RF spectrum, ensure frequency compliance, and manage certification artifacts.

• Act as the technical liaison to the DoW AIMS Program Office.

• Assist with and implement Mark XIIA / Mode 5 IFF certification packages and related engineering tasks.

• Create compliance matrices for ICAO, FAA NextGen, and DoD/DoW requirements.

• Contribute to assessments of civil/military airspace integration and architecture evaluations.

• Execute MBSE workflows and digital engineering processes.

• Sustain the integrity of digital threads and digital twins across datalink/avionics baselines.

• Leverage authoritative digital tools to advance DMM initiatives.

• Perform hardware-in-the-loop (HITL) and Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) integration activities.

• Assess platform data bus architectures, including MIL-STD-1553, Ethernet, and ARINC 429.

• Facilitate test execution, analyze results, and plan verification activities.

• Develop and review system safety evaluations and military airworthiness documentation.

• Produce flight clearance engineering documents and certification artifacts.

• Collaborate closely with government, industry, and enterprise-level stakeholders.

• Support critical delivery timelines, tactical data link integration, spectrum management / DoW AIMS IFF certifications, and Digital Materiel Management initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a relevant field.

• Over 9 years of experience in tactical communications, datalinks, or avionics systems.

• Proficient understanding of Link 16, TTNT, UHF/VHF, OMS/OA standards, and military communication architectures.

• Background in spectrum management, RF coordination, or IFF/Mark XIIA/Mode 5 certification processes.

• Familiarity with MBSE tools (Cameo, Rhapsody, etc.) and digital engineering workflows.

• Knowledge of CNS/ATM mandates and requirements for airspace integration.

• Experience in avionics integration, HITL/SIL testing, and data bus architectures.

• Capability to generate airworthiness and flight clearance documentation.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage directly with government and industry stakeholders.

• Active Secret security clearance.

• Experience with DoW AIMS Program Office activities.

• Prior support to Space Systems Command or LA AFB programs.

• Involvement with Digital Materiel Management (DMM) initiatives.

• Ability to climb ladders and work in confined spaces as well as endure extreme temperature variations.

• Lifting and transporting materials might be necessary.
