Commissioning Assistant Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Lead and oversee the testing and commissioning of medium- and low-voltage electrical systems, which include inverters, transformers, and BESS power distribution equipment.

• Supervise NETA-compliant testing processes, including Megger, VOC Testing, VLF, and TTR.

• Manage the startup, energization, and intricate troubleshooting of AC and DC components.

• Offer technical support and guidance to field technicians at solar and BESS sites.

• Analyze and interpret electrical diagrams, schematics, and one-line diagrams.

• Collaborate with construction leads, SCADA teams, and utility partners to ensure effective system integration and communication protocols.

• Review and finalize commissioning documentation, including test results and turnover packages.

• Uphold safety protocols, NEC/NFPA 70E standards, and site-specific safety regulations.

• Administer and audit LOTO energy isolation procedures.

• Support the Commissioning Director with resource planning, scheduling, and progress reporting across multiple project sites.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in a leadership or senior technical position related to the commissioning of electrical systems in the solar, BESS, or utility/industrial sectors.

• In-depth knowledge of electrical testing methodologies, specialized equipment, and NETA standards.

• Strong competency in interpreting control logic, advanced technical drawings, and protective relay configurations.

• Proven track record in field execution management, including troubleshooting, team coordination, and project reporting.

• Exceptional communication abilities to effectively manage relationships with subcontractors and internal stakeholders.

• Willingness to travel frequently to project sites across various states.

• Capability to engage in frequent physical activity in both indoor and outdoor settings, facing varying weather conditions.

• Ability to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach using hands and arms.

• Capacity to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds; may occasionally handle heavier loads with assistance.

• Ability to work in proximity to moving mechanical components, elevated work areas, high noise levels, and extreme temperatures.
