Commercial Generator Field Technician, Gen Sets, LV/MV Electrical, Mechanical, Microgrid

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Oversee the maintenance and repair of both contracted and non-contracted generator and power distribution systems.

• Offer technical assistance to customers regarding operational and maintenance queries.

• Conduct battery installations and replacements as needed.

• Execute scheduled preventative maintenance for contracted equipment.

• Engage with customers and relay availability updates to the corporate office.

• Protect company-issued tools, equipment, instruments, proprietary information, manuals, and records.

• Utilize electronic and electrical testing equipment effectively.

• Coordinate and supervise on-site subcontractors when necessary.

• Keep the company vehicle in a safe and functional state.

• Ensure compliance with PSS standards in all work performed.

• Accurately complete Field Service Reports, Time Sheets, Expense Reports, and other required documentation in a timely manner.

• Maintain technical documentation systematically.

• Participate in mandatory company training sessions.

• Engage in cross-training in other relevant areas as needed.

• Provide on-call services 24/7 as required.

⛳️ Requirements

• Level II Technician: Minimum of three years of field experience in servicing generator systems, with some exposure to 500 kW+ systems.

• Level III Technician: At least six years of field experience in servicing generator systems, with extensive knowledge of 500 kW+ systems.

• Level IV Technician: A decade of field experience servicing generator systems across various sizes and applications.

• High school diploma or GED equivalent, relevant military experience, or commensurate field experience.

• Familiarity with preventative maintenance, paralleling switchgear, ATS repairs, controller retrofits, and loadbanking equipment.

• Capability to perform triennial maintenance, engine diagnostics, fuel system priming, and replacement of faulty engine components.

• Proficient in major engine repairs and capable of diagnosing diverse applications.

• Experience with Volvo and PSI engines.

• Understanding of Automatic Transfer Systems, including troubleshooting and repair with minimal guidance.

• Advanced troubleshooting capabilities.

• Competence in reading and interpreting schematics and wiring diagrams.

• Proficiency with Woodward, Beckwith, and PLC equipment in an advanced electrical-controls environment.

• Ability to comprehend technical instructions, safety manuals, service manuals, policies, and procedures.

• Must adhere to all safety protocols.

• Computer literate, including proficiency with ERP systems, email, and Microsoft Office.

• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.

• Capable of working independently, exercising sound judgment, and maintaining attention to detail.

• Willingness to mentor mid- to high-level technicians as needed.

• Required to travel daily and be available for 24/7 on-call duties.

• Willingness to travel out of market/state up to 25% of the time.

• Physical ability to lift, carry, push, or pull 20–75 pounds, and perform climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.

• Must be able to wear necessary PPE and work outdoors in all weather conditions.

• Ability to operate a heavy-duty truck for up to 10 consecutive hours.

• Must successfully pass pre-employment background checks, drug testing, and MVR clearance.

• Required to own and maintain a personal set of mechanical tools.
