Collections Specialist, Medical Biller

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.

📋 Description

• Timely and accurate submission of invoices to payers for services and products rendered.

• Comprehension of contract terms and fee schedules related to the submitted invoices.

• Assessment of quantities and pricing for billed medications.

• Verification that services and products are properly authorized and that necessary documentation is available.

• Evaluation and precise application of payments to patient accounts.

• Dispatch of secondary bills and patient invoices within 48 hours of receiving payment.

• Inform the Reimbursement Manager about any overpayments and duplicate payments.

• Relocation of payments attributed to other offices within a 48-hour timeframe.

• Follow-up on submitted invoices to guarantee timely payment.

• Confirmation that claims have been received and are being processed.

• Correspond with patients or responsible parties when insurers do not pay within a reasonable period.

• Generate and send statements and collection letters.

• Address all denials within 48 hours.

• Ensure adherence to contract terms, fee schedules, policies, and guidelines.

• Assist in the training for Billing and Collection.

• Complete second-level appeals to payers.

• Adhere to HIPAA guidelines when accessing and sharing patient information.

⛳️ Requirements

• Candidates must currently reside in the Eastern Time Zone to be considered.

• High School Diploma or equivalent qualification.

• 0 – 6 months of prior experience in Infusion Reimbursement or Intake/Admissions.

• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word.

• Capability to understand payer contracts and fee schedules.

• Ability to verify authorizations and requisite documentation.

• Capacity to adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality for patients and business matters.
