Collections Specialist, Medical Biller

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Timely and accurately submit invoices to payers for products and services provided.

• Comprehend contract terms and fee schedules related to the submitted invoices.

• Assess quantities and pricing for billed medications.

• Confirm the authorization of services and products along with necessary documentation.

• Review payments for accuracy and apply them correctly to patient accounts.

• Dispatch secondary bills and patient invoices within 48 hours of receiving payment.

• Inform the Reimbursement Manager about any overpayments and duplicate payments.

• Reallocate payments intended for other offices within 48 hours.

• Follow up on submitted invoices to guarantee timely payment.

• Verify the receipt and processing of claims.

• Communicate with patients or responsible parties when insurers do not settle within a reasonable timeframe.

• Generate and distribute statements and collection letters.

• Follow up on denials within 48 hours.

• Assist in Billing and Collection Training activities.

• Complete second-level appeals to payers as necessary.

• Ensure compliance with contract terms, fee schedules, and HIPAA guidelines.

• Uphold the confidentiality of patient and business information.

⛳️ Requirements

• Candidates must currently reside in the Mountain or Pacific Time Zone to qualify.

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

• 0 – 6 months of prior experience in Infusion Reimbursement or Intake/Admissions is preferred.

• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel is necessary.

• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word is necessary.

• Ability to adhere to HIPAA guidelines when accessing and sharing patient information.

• Understanding of payer contracts and fee schedules is essential.

• Familiarity with billing authorization and required documentation processes is needed.
