This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.
• Oversee designated accounts, ensuring prompt and precise billing, collection, and payment processes.
• Confirm that claims are properly filed post billing of accounts.
• Follow up with payers on any outstanding claims.
• Investigate reasons for claim denials.
• Collaborate with billers to resolve any billing discrepancies.
• Work with funding consultants to address questions regarding documentation.
• Draft communications, including appeals, to facilitate account payments and request alternative denial codes.
• Examine posted payments for accuracy and address any inconsistencies.
• Record both verbal and written communication related to collection efforts and anticipated outcomes for overdue accounts.
• Conduct follow-ups every 30 days with insurance companies, clients, SPLs, and vendors to confirm payment statuses.
• Notify the Manager of Collections about potential payment challenges.
• Suggest adjustments and write-offs to the Manager of Collections and secure approval prior to account reconciliation.
• Investigate refund requests related to accounts and complete the necessary paperwork for refunds.
• Achieve productivity and cash targets set by management.
• Stay updated on state, federal, and third-party funding regulations to ensure compliant billing and payment practices.
• Carry out other assigned responsibilities.
• High School Diploma.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in computer operations, accounting, collections, and high-volume medical billing and/or insurance claims processing.
• Familiarity with the payment posting process, particularly regarding contractual adjustments and refunds, is preferred.
• Understanding of medical insurance claims procedures and documentation is preferred.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal abilities.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Capability to research claim information online.
• Basic data entry and word processing skills.
• Ability to exercise independent judgment and handle confidential information responsibly.
• Competence in gathering data and summarizing information effectively.
• Strong time management and organizational capabilities.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in record management.
• Ability to sit at a desk for extended periods.
• Capacity to work amidst interruptions in a fast-paced environment.
• Candidates must reside within the Central or Eastern Time zones.
• Willingness to travel to the Pittsburgh office four times a year is required.
