This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.
• Provide assistance to both internal and external members while upholding TBACU’s mission to serve the community and foster trustworthy relationships.
• Address inquiries related to collections via all communication channels.
• Oversee delinquent and overdrawn accounts, generating reports to identify necessary corrective actions.
• Evaluate delinquent accounts and develop strategies to reduce financial losses.
• Compile documentation for legal proceedings, bankruptcy packages, and various collection scenarios.
• Engage with members through phone, written communication, or in-person regarding overdue and overdrawn accounts.
• Assess the causes and severity of delinquency, arranging for partial or full payments.
• Participate in repossession and foreclosure efforts, assisting with collateral management and legal disposition.
• Suggest and implement measures for accounts deemed uncollectable.
• Keep comprehensive records of members' financial statuses, communications, and collection activities.
• Monitor loan modifications, status changes, collection updates, paid-ahead loans, and maintenance accounts.
• Provide account balances, loan payoffs, delinquent notifications, and form letters.
• Supervise charged-off loans and re-file judgments, tax writs, garnishments, and other legal actions.
• Support departments with commercial loan documentation, collateral liens, insurance tracking, and collateral protection insurance processes.
• Offer or recommend financial counseling services.
• Stay informed about credit union products, services, policies, federal and state regulations, FDCPA, bankruptcy laws, and BSA/AML requirements.
• Ensure member confidentiality and safeguard information security.
• Utilize the electronic filing system to scan documents and fulfill established position expectations.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• One to two years of experience in collections and/or lending is preferred.
• Strong understanding of mathematical applications.
• Exceptional listening skills, clear verbal communication, and professional writing abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a team setting.
• Proficient in the Windows Operating System and Microsoft Office Suite/O365 Suite.
• Must be able to be bonded.
• Must be able to pass a credit and criminal background check.
• Must comply with the U.S. Patriot Act and the Credit Union’s Bank Secrecy and OFAC Policies and Procedures.
• Must adhere to the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and the Credit Union’s Information Security program.
• Capability to sit or stand for 2–4 hours continuously.
• Ability to self-manage workload, meet deadlines, solve problems, work independently and collaboratively, remain calm under pressure, and learn new technologies.
