Collections Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Manage the accounts receivable aging cycle for the entire customer base

• Oversee outstanding balances, prioritize outreach efforts, and ensure timely collection of overdue accounts

• Create customized collection strategies for key accounts and those identified as high-risk

• Address executive-level escalations and negotiate payment plans

• Project cash receipts and identify collection risks, reserves, and potential write-off candidates

• Act as the primary escalation point and subject matter expert in collections

• Guide team members on effective collections practices and establish outreach standards

• Oversee cash application processes for bank deposits, wire transfers, ACH, and credit card payments

• Reconcile unapplied cash and resolve exceptions in collaboration with Treasury and Accounting

• Conduct credit reviews and set as well as monitor credit limits

• Resolve payment disputes, credit memos, and refund requests in accordance with defined SLAs

• Collaborate with Legal, DealOps, and Sales to interpret contracts and develop customer relationship strategies

• Identify root causes of disputes and relay issues back to billing and sales operations

• Design and maintain AR dashboards that track DSO, collection effectiveness index, past-due percentage, aging trends, and unapplied cash

• Report collections performance metrics to Revenue Accounting and Finance leadership

• Address invoice discrepancies, contract mismatches, and amendments with the billing team

• Build strong partnerships with DealOps, Sales, Legal, IT, and Finance

• Evaluate workflows and implement scalable, automated solutions

• Spearhead quote-to-cash enhancements, including dunning, payment reminders, and self-service payment options

• Develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) for collections, cash applications, and credit tasks

• Complete month-end AR responsibilities, including journal entries, reserves, write-offs, and flux analysis

• Maintain documentation that is audit-ready and assist with external audits

• Ensure compliance with ASC 606, SOX controls, and internal credit and revenue recognition policies

⛳️ Requirements

• 5–7 years of experience in collections, accounts receivable, or revenue accounting within a high-growth SaaS or software environment

• Proven history of decreasing DSO and managing past-due balances effectively

• Experience in developing and executing collections strategies for enterprise B2B accounts

• Background in negotiating with customer finance and procurement departments

• Experience managing executive escalations

• Proficient experience with NetSuite, specifically in AR, cash application, and customer records

• Familiarity with Salesforce-to-NetSuite data integrations

• Advanced skills in Excel/Sheets, including XLOOKUP and pivot tables

• Experience in managing large datasets for reconciliation and aging analysis

• Ability to identify process gaps and implement workflow enhancements or automation

• Strong cross-functional communication abilities

• Capacity to work independently while prioritizing competing demands

• Ability to mentor or guide team members

• Preferred: familiarity with usage-based or consumption billing models

• Preferred: experience within a SOX-controlled environment and internal audit processes in publicly traded companies

• Preferred: experience in credit risk assessment and managing credit limits for B2B clients

• Preferred: experience with collections automation, AR tools, and creating AR dashboards
