This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Wisconsin.
• Ensure precise, comprehensive, and uniform coding practices to uphold quality healthcare data.
• Assign codes for intricate inpatient cases utilizing ICD-9/ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes and ICD-10-PCS procedure codes.
• Aim for optimal reimbursement outcomes.
• Provide support across various coding areas as necessary.
• Work autonomously and effectively address coding issues.
• Adjust to evolving policies and procedures related to healthcare data requirements.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in medical record coding is preferred.
• Experience in inpatient facility coding within an acute care hospital is preferred.
• Familiarity with DRG assignment and reimbursement regulations in an acute care setting is preferred.
• Experience with coding through an encoder is required.
• Proficiency in using Windows-based applications is required.
• Pediatric coding experience is preferred.
• Understanding of ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT classification systems is essential.
• Knowledge of the Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting is required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
• Capability to adapt to frequent changes in policies and procedures.
• Ability to maintain accuracy, work independently, and effectively resolve issues.
• High school diploma, GED, or HSED is required.
• Certification in CCS, RHIT, or RHIA is required, with CCS being preferred.
