This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kansas, +3 more states.
• Execute complex professional coding independently across various settings including office/clinic, hospital outpatient, ED/urgent care, ASC, SNF/nursing home, and telehealth.
• Accurately code intricate professional encounters and procedures, ensuring correct sequencing, use of modifiers, E/M level selection, and alignment with documentation.
• Address coding-related edits and denials by pinpointing root causes, coordinating documentation clarifications, and facilitating rebilling processes.
• Apply payer medical policies, NCCI concepts, global service considerations, and telehealth coding regulations to professional-fee claims.
• Offer real-time assistance to colleagues on standard coding scenarios.
• Encourage consistency by sharing best practices.
• Engage in internal quality review programs.
• Execute educational initiatives and corrective measures based on quality review outcomes.
• Review documentation within Epic professional coding work queues and encoder tools.
• Recognize opportunities for documentation improvement and assist in compliant query workflows.
• Undertake other assigned responsibilities.
• Candidates must reside and work full-time in Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, or Texas prior to their first day of employment.
• A High School diploma or GED is mandatory.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in physician/provider coding is required.
• CPC or CCS-P certification is essential.
• Advanced knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT®, HCPCS, and modifiers is necessary.
• Strong proficiency in E/M coding and interpretation of payer policies is crucial.
• Proficiency in navigating Epic professional coding work queues and encoder tools is required.
• Capability to efficiently review EHR documentation across various settings.
• Strong analytical problem-solving skills for the prevention of denials/edits.
• Ability to identify opportunities for documentation improvement and support compliant query workflows.
• Familiarity with risk adjustment concepts and HCC validation when applicable.
• Competence in performing complex professional coding across diverse specialties and settings.
