This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Wisconsin.

πŸ“‹ Description

β€’ Evaluate the precision and completeness of inpatient case coding via retrospective and concurrent audits.

β€’ Ensure adherence to coding guidelines and regulatory standards.

β€’ Provide constructive feedback to coding team members based on audit findings.

β€’ Address inquiries related to coding.

β€’ Support the training and onboarding of new Inpatient Coders, including conducting audits.

β€’ Uphold internal coding standards.

β€’ Research, prepare, and distribute information concerning updates to official coding guidance.

β€’ Collaborate with Coding and CDI Quality Analyst teams on DRG matters and other operational activities.

β€’ Engage in internal and external secondary coding reviews.


⛳️ Requirements

β€’ A graduate of a medical coding program is required, or two (2) years of coding experience may be accepted in lieu of the medical coding program, along with the experience specified below.

β€’ A minimum of three years of progressive inpatient coding experience in an acute care hospital, including coding MS-DRGs and APR-DRGs, is required.

β€’ Certification as a Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC) is mandatory.

β€’ Graduation from a Health Information Technology Program is preferred.

β€’ Five years or more of inpatient coding experience in an academic medical center is preferred.

β€’ Experience with coding quality audits and improvement initiatives is preferred.

β€’ Training experience is preferred.

β€’ Certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) is preferred.

β€’ Must reside in an approved remote work state for UW Health to qualify for remote work.
