Coding Coordinator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Utah.

📋 Description

• Assess and address coding edits within designated Epic work queues.

• Examine medical record documentation and allocate suitable CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10 codes, and modifiers.

• Analyze coding bundling guidelines and the application of modifiers.

• Relay coding and denial trends, along with provider education opportunities, to coding leadership.

• Engage with providers via Epic in-basket messages and email communications.

• Offer education and training to medical providers and coders.

• Conduct quality assurance audits within the specialty team.

• Ensure adherence to coding regulations and guidelines.

• Assist leadership in developing communications, tip sheets, and workflows.

• Oversee and assess coding workflows to pinpoint areas for improvement.

• Investigate and address coding inquiries utilizing coding expertise and source-based research.

• Advocate for Intermountain Health’s mission, vision, values, and service behavior standards.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent is mandatory.

• A minimum of five (5) years of professional fee coding experience is required.

• At least three (3) years of experience within the designated specialty service line.

• Required certification: CPC Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist Physician (CCS-P).

• E/M (Evaluation & Management) coding experience is essential.

• Experience in coding for the assigned specialty-specific service line.

• Proficiency in CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 coding.

• Previous experience with Epic/PB Resolute is necessary.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

• Prior experience utilizing Epic and managing work queues is preferred.

• Ideally, seven plus (7+) years of relevant coding experience is preferred.

• Preferred credentials related to specialty coding.

• Ability to navigate Epic EMR, reports, and work queues effectively.

• Understanding of the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule.

• Competency in using Optum Encoder Pro.

• Strong communication skills with providers and colleagues.

• Capability to conduct quality assurance audits.
