This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Carolina.
β’ Perform regular coding audits and manage the continuous oversight of coding precision.
β’ Offer ongoing feedback to the coding team.
β’ Create and oversee training sessions for coding staff on proper documentation and coding accuracy.
β’ Act as a point of reference for coding and documentation standards and guidelines across the organization.
β’ Develop audit tools to assess the accuracy of clinical coding.
β’ Stay updated on coding regulations and reimbursement reporting requirements.
β’ Conduct trend analyses to detect patterns and discrepancies in coding practices.
β’ Adhere to AHIMA's Standards of Ethical Coding and official coding protocols.
β’ Ensure a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
β’ Comply with Memorial Hermannβs policies, procedures, standards, productivity expectations, quality measures, and budgetary constraints.
β’ Foster professional growth and development through mandatory and continuing education and skills competency initiatives.
β’ Support department objectives and act as a preceptor, mentor, and resource for less experienced staff.
β’ Create compassionate and personalized interactions for community members, patients, and colleagues.
β’ Execute additional responsibilities as assigned.
β’ A high school diploma or GED is mandatory.
β’ For inpatient coding: RHIT, RHIA, CCA, CCS, or CIC coding certification from AHIMA or AAPC is required.
β’ For outpatient coding: RHIT, RHIA, or a relevant coding certification from AHIMA or AAPC is necessary.
β’ A minimum of four (4) years of pertinent hospital coding or auditing experience is required.
β’ Experience in coding/auditing within a level 1 trauma center or academic teaching institution is highly preferred.
β’ Comprehensive understanding of ICD-10-CM and CPT coding principles and guidelines is essential.
β’ In-depth knowledge of 3M Coding applications and resolving coding edits is crucial.
β’ Familiarity with reimbursement systems, regulations, and policies related to documentation, coding, and billing is necessary.
β’ Proficiency in database applications and spreadsheet design is required.
β’ Strong oral and written communication skills are essential.
β’ Possess the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care suited to the patient population served.
β’ Understanding of growth and development principles as they pertain to various life stages is important.
