Physician Coding Compliance Auditor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Conduct compliance audits for physicians and group audits by reviewing medical record documentation and coding services.

• Detect areas of risk and non-compliance, offering actionable recommendations.

• Facilitate educational sessions and training for providers regarding audit outcomes and regulatory standards.

• Compile audit findings and present summaries to providers, operations leaders, and senior management.

• Deliver feedback directly to providers.

• Generate reports and relay audit findings to management and clinical staff.

• Develop training and educational materials as a subject matter expert.

• Track, log, and manage audit/review activities using software or Excel spreadsheets.

• Provide regular and on-demand reporting.

• Support audit and compliance special projects.

• Maintain expertise in medical record documentation, coding, and compliance through participation in workshops and seminars.

• Keep abreast of updates and changes in Medicare and regulatory agency rules.

• Serve as a professional liaison for physician compliance activities in a confidential and professional manner.

⛳️ Requirements

• High school diploma or GED is mandatory.

• Certified Professional Coder certification is required at the time of hire.

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in professional fee coding/auditing is necessary.

• Experience in an academic medical environment is preferred.

• A Bachelor's degree is preferred.

• In-depth knowledge of coding and documentation standards is essential.

• Familiarity with Medicare and regulatory agency regulations is required.

• Proficiency in using software or Excel spreadsheets for tracking audit/review activities is needed.

• Capability to conduct education and training for providers.

• Strong communication skills to convey audit findings to providers, operations leaders, management, clinicians, and senior leadership.
