This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +3 more states.
• Accurately assign ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 codes for various outpatient visit types.
• Allocate Evaluation and Management codes for physician encounters.
• Conduct comprehensive reviews of medical records and documentation to code diagnoses, procedures, and evaluation and management services.
• Collaborate with Patient Accounting, Registration, case managers, and clinical departments to provide coding reimbursement expertise.
• Analyze health record documentation to determine appropriate diagnoses and procedures.
• Address NCCI, NCD/LCD, and other outpatient claim edit failures.
• Achieve established coding productivity and quality benchmarks.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in an acute healthcare environment.
• Certification in RHIT, RHIA, CCS, CCS-P, COC, or CPC.
• Membership in AHIMA or AAPC.
• Proficiency in ICD-10-CM diagnosis coding.
• Familiarity with HCPC Level I and II procedural codes.
• Understanding of NCD/LCD and NCCI edits.
• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, clinical disease processes, pharmacology, and medical terminology.
• Acquainted with ICD-10-CM Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting, Coding Clinic, Coding Clinic for HCPCs, CPT Assistant, coding conventions, and instructional notes.
• Maintain a minimum coding accuracy of 95%.
• Must be a resident of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Wisconsin, or Missouri.
