This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Code records with precision and within designated timeframes
• Abstract information from both paper and electronic documentation
• Employ ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, and CPT classification systems
• Gather and evaluate relevant diagnoses and procedures based on existing documentation
• Ensure coding adheres to established standards and accurately reflects severity-of-illness documentation
• A high school diploma is mandatory
• Completion of college courses related to the coding credential is necessary
• Possession of RHIA/RHIT credentials or equivalent education with certification from AHIMA or AAPC, or the ability to obtain certification within 6 months of employment
• One of the following coding credentials is required: CCA, CCS, CCS-P, CPC, CPC-A, CPC-H, or CPC-P
• Familiarity with ICD-10-CM/PCS, HCPCS, and CPT is essential
• Prior experience is preferred
• Recent graduates from a coding program may be provided with training
