This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.
• Assign ICD-10-CM codes to medical record accounts, including diagnoses.
• Extract essential data elements necessary for billing, regulatory agencies, and other databases.
• Evaluate records for clinical relevance and ensure documentation supports accurate facility-based charges.
• Engage with providers to clarify documentation and guarantee the appropriate assignment of diagnoses, procedures, and facility E/M levels.
• Review and address claim edits related to outpatient encounters, including medical necessity and NCCI/CCI edits.
• Aid in correcting simple visit coding errors related to other outpatient visits.
• Exhibit professionalism and courtesy when interacting with visitors, colleagues, physicians, and hospital staff.
• Uphold patient confidentiality in accordance with hospital policies and legal and industry standards.
• Support hospital objectives and initiatives aimed at patient care.
• Participate in regular training sessions to enhance patient and customer communication.
• Conduct qualitative analysis of records using CPT/HCPCS and ICD-10-CM guidelines.
• Collaborate with AR teams to resolve issues.
• Credentials such as RHIT, RHIA, CEDC, COC, CPC, CCS-P, or CCS.
• A minimum of three years of coding experience.
• Comprehensive working knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT coding systems.
• Awareness of federal and state regulations concerning reimbursement.
• Familiarity with hospital information systems, electronic medical record systems, and encoders.
• Understanding of standards for chart completion.
• Maintains Continuing Education credits in line with AHIMA and/or AAPC requirements based on certification(s).
• Knowledge of medical-legal rules and regulations regarding confidentiality and the release of medical information.
• Must uphold complete confidentiality of all patient records.
• Comfortable collaborating with AR teams to resolve issues.
• Ability to successfully complete a coding assessment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, and Teams.
• Capable of multitasking with excellent communication skills.
• Must achieve and sustain a 95% quality accuracy rate and meet productivity standards.
• Experience working in a remote environment is required.
• 100% Remote.
• Continuing Education credits maintained in accordance with AHIMA and/or AAPC requirements based upon certification(s).
