This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Evaluate and verify assigned encounters to ensure providers select the correct E/M code levels using an auditing tool for E/M code-level selection.

• Support physicians with their documentation requirements by seeking clarification and gathering additional information as necessary.

• Provide education to physicians and ancillary staff regarding the documentation essential for the coding process.

• Reach out to physician offices and departments to obtain diagnostic information required for coding encounters.

• Train new coding personnel as needed.

• Code all designated encounter types and offer assistance to colleagues whenever required.

• Accurately code and resolve encounters related to clinics, hospitalists, ED, and relevant ancillary services in line with production standards.

• Maintain data integrity and ensure maximum reimbursement in compliance with federal and state payment systems.

• Conduct follow-ups on encounters that require coding and resolution.

• Review and amend encounters that have been rejected or denied.

• Meticulously examine records and assign codes for diagnoses and procedures in accordance with ICD-CM and CPT principles, guidelines, and regulations.

⛳️ Requirements

• A High School Diploma is required.

• CCA, CCS, CPC, RHIT, or RHIA certification is required upon hiring.

• CPC certification must be obtained within one year of employment.

• Proficient understanding of ICD-CM and CPT coding principles, official guidelines, and regulations is necessary.

• Capability to assign ICD-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes, including modifiers and E/M codes.

• Ability to conduct provider E/M code level selection audits.

• Must meet quality standards with at least 95% accuracy in appropriately and/or correctly coded diagnoses and procedures.
