Coder – Inpatient

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Accurately and promptly assign ICD-10 diagnostic and PCS procedural codes for medical records pertaining to inpatient hospital encounters.

• Analyze medical records to identify diagnoses and procedures, then assign the appropriate ICD-10-CM diagnosis and ICD-10-PCS procedure codes.

• Extract diagnostic and PCS procedural codes along with other relevant data into the network system.

• Review and oversee assigned work queues as well as cases with missing documentation.

• Code and abstract accounts that have been previously overlooked.

• Provide details regarding specific problem accounts to the Coding Supervisor.

• Carry out additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in a hospital inpatient environment.

• High school diploma or equivalent qualification.

• At least one certification such as Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC).

• Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, coding guidelines, and computer systems.

• Proven attention to detail.

• Problem-solving abilities related to coding challenges.
