This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +32 more states.
β’ Conduct complex, specialty-specific professional fee coding for physician services within both office and hospital environments.
β’ Execute entry-level facility coding for straightforward outpatient encounters and basic inpatient services.
β’ Utilize CPT/HCPCS, ICD-10-CM, and ICD-10-PCS coding systems, including modifiers and E/M guidelines.
β’ Ensure that coding practices comply with AAPC/AHIMA guidelines, CMS regulations, and internal compliance standards.
β’ Recognize the necessity for formal clinical queries to enhance documentation clarity.
β’ Uphold accuracy and productivity standards that are suited to the complexity of the workload.
β’ Offer informal mentorship to new coding staff regarding professional coding intricacies.
β’ Work Monday through Friday during the first shift, totaling 40 hours per week.
β’ Occasional travel may be required for training or meetings.
β’ Possession of an active coding certification from AAPC or AHIMA.
β’ High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
β’ Completion of an accredited medical coding or HIM program (or equivalent practical experience).
β’ Foundational experience in facility coding for basic outpatient and inpatient records, gained through education, externship, or practical work.
β’ Familiarity with Epic or similar electronic health record systems is advantageous.
β’ Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and pathophysiology.
β’ Advanced expertise in CPT/HCPCS and ICD-10-CM/PCS coding systems.
β’ Basic knowledge of facility payment methodologies (MS-DRGs) as they relate to simple encounters.
β’ Excellent analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail.
β’ Capability to switch contexts between various coding guidelines.
β’ Ability to work autonomously, manage a diverse workload, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
β’ May occasionally need to lift up to 40 lbs.
