COBOL, IDMS Software Programmer/Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Create and sustain applications developed in COBOL, IDMS, and ADSO for IBM mainframe operating systems.

• Deliver application support services for the Defense Civilian Payroll System (DCPS) initiative.

• Plan, manage, and coordinate activities related to software creation across various functional areas and products.

• Prioritize and allocate projects, products, and resources in collaboration with architects and managers.

• Engage in strategic discussions regarding technology, as well as the definition and implementation of software products.

• Make personnel decisions, including hiring and rewarding staff.

• Organize, lead, and coordinate activities within a multi-team or cross-functional environment.

• Oversee software development projects, ensuring they meet deadlines and adhere to quality standards.

• Promote effective communication across and between project teams, sharing project statuses, variance justifications, and technical details.

• Structure projects through comprehensive plans that encompass product objectives, strategies, roles and responsibilities, timelines, risks, contingency measures, and resource management.

• Keep abreast of technology trends and emerging standards to identify new technology opportunities.

⛳️ Requirements

• 2 years of experience with a BS/BA; 0 years with an MS/MA; 6 years with a High School Diploma.

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.

• Capability to acquire and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

• Experience in developing specifications for changes in software requirements.

• Background in the design and development of software systems.

• Extensive experience with COBOL within a mainframe setting.

• Familiarity with IDMS (Integrated Database Management System).

• Proficiency with ADSO (Application Development System Online).
