CNC Field Service Technician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Travel to client locations for the installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of machine tool equipment and controls.

• Utilize online technical documentation, manuals, and vendor resources to investigate machine-related issues.

• Accurately complete and submit documentation to both the office and customers concerning machine issues, repairs, and installations.

• Promote and execute preventative maintenance on customer machine tool equipment.

• Provide after-sales technical support and training to customers.

• Maintain a thorough understanding of the machine tool industry and the product lines represented by the company.

• Carry out additional duties as necessary.

• Report directly to the Service Manager.

• Begin daily dispatch from home to customer sites across a regional territory.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in mechanical or electrical repair or engineering is preferred.

• Background in CNC repair is advantageous.

• Proficiency in reading and interpreting drawings and schematics is essential.

• Familiarity with software, such as Microsoft Office, is a plus.

• Ability to effectively use a laptop, smartphone, and various software applications.

• Excellent technical, communication, and presentation abilities are required.

• Capacity to regularly lift weights of 40–50 pounds.

• Must be flexible with hours and willing to travel frequently throughout a regional territory.

• Should be highly mobile and capable of accessing all areas of the premises.

• Ability to focus and manage multiple tasks, responsibilities, and projects effectively.

• Must be able to sit for extended periods.

• Capability to bend, twist, stoop, reach, and lift moderate to heavy materials (up to 50 lbs.) with assistance from equipment or colleagues.

• Frequent use of hands and arms is necessary.

• Close, distance, peripheral, and depth vision is required, along with the ability to adjust focus.

• Must work responsibly and professionally in dynamic job sites with tight deadlines, shifting priorities, and customer/team interactions.

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and reach for extended durations while servicing equipment.

• Must be able to work in confined spaces or awkward positions, including inside equipment and elevated areas.

• Strong hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills are necessary for precise electrical, mechanical, and diagnostic tasks.

• Capability to work in industrial environments with exposure to noise, lubricants, coolants, metal chips, and other manufacturing conditions while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
