This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.
• Design, manage, automate, and improve Azure Virtual Desktop environments within a classified government setting.
• Oversee and maintain Azure Virtual Desktop host pools, session hosts, workspaces, and application groups.
• Create, validate, deploy, and sustain standardized Windows and Linux VM images.
• Handle the complete lifecycle of VDI session hosts, including provisioning, patching, scaling, and decommissioning.
• Identify and resolve intricate issues related to user sessions, profiles, authentication, applications, networking, and system performance.
• Package and deploy applications utilizing Salt and other authorized automation or configuration-management tools.
• Monitor the health, performance, capacity, and utilization of the platform, while implementing effective corrective measures for recurring problems.
• Implement system-hardening standards, security baselines, and vulnerability remediation for images and session hosts.
• Plan and execute platform upgrades, image releases, patching schedules, and routine maintenance.
• Assist with incident response, root-cause analysis, capacity planning, and initiatives for continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with Platform Engineering, SRE, DevOps, Security, Networking, and application development teams.
• Contribute to architectural decisions, cloud-native integrations, automation strategies, and high-assurance cloud design patterns.
• Aid in scaling and modernizing the AVD service while upholding stringent security and compliance standards.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• Must be a US citizen.
• Active Secret security clearance required.
• Ability to meet eligibility criteria for relevant Special Access Programs.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent relevant experience, if allowed by contract).
• A minimum of three years of professional experience in supporting cloud, VDI, or virtualized infrastructure.
• Practical experience administering Azure Virtual Desktop or a similar enterprise VDI platform.
• Experience in constructing, patching, and maintaining Windows virtual machine images.
• Familiarity with Azure services that support VDI environments.
• Strong skills in Windows systems administration and troubleshooting.
• Excellent documentation and communication abilities.
• Security+ certified or the capability to obtain certification within 1-2 months.
• Preferred experience with at least one configuration-management or automation tool (e.g., Salt, Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
• Preferred experience in troubleshooting identity, networking, profile, application, and performance issues in virtualized settings.
• Preferred experience with platform monitoring, incident response, and root-cause analysis.
• Preferred AZ-104: Microsoft Azure Administrator certification.
