Cloud Systems Engineer – DevOps

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of and continuously enhance the engineering platform and CI/CD pipelines utilized for software development and delivery.

• Manage and maintain GitHub Enterprise Cloud and GitHub Actions, encompassing administration, runners, reusable workflows, and delivery controls.

• Oversee and support Argo CD and Octopus Deploy workflows and their configurations.

• Design, implement, and sustain deployment configurations and workflows for Kubernetes and Docker Swarm.

• Assist in migrating applications to Kubernetes and promote broader Kubernetes adoption.

• Spot opportunities to accelerate build and release cycles, enhance quality and reliability, and bolster delivery security.

• Define pipeline, deployment, and configuration adjustments as code.

• Utilize Terraform for configuring Octopus and managing Azure resources tied to Build and Release.

• Enhance the reliability of builds and deployments via automated validation, recovery, rollback features, and failure-mode analysis.

• Facilitate self-service deployment workflows and offer escalated technical support.

• Aid the application release team with build or deployment issues and manage specific IT releases.

• Collaborate with technical leaders to ensure systems are maintainable and supportable.

• Enhance service delivery, the delivery platform, and release procedures through documentation and runbooks.

• Provide delivery-centric on-call support.

• Ensure that supported systems and operational activities adhere to security, HIPAA, and operational policies.

• Remove repetitive or error-prone delivery tasks utilizing PowerShell, Python, or other automation tools.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.

• Over 5 years of relevant engineering experience in Build and Release Engineering, DevOps, Cloud or Platform Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, and/or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE).

• Proven experience in designing, supporting, and enhancing high-volume SaaS CI/CD pipelines.

• Familiarity with continuous integration, continuous delivery, infrastructure-as-code, and container deployment methodologies.

• Experience in supporting CI/CD and application delivery leveraging cloud-based compute, storage, networking, infrastructure as code, and containerization technologies.

• Azure and Kubernetes experience is preferred.

• Proficient in troubleshooting application builds and deployments on both Windows and Linux systems.

• Skilled in scripting and automation using PowerShell and Python.

• Experience supporting builds for .NET, .NET Core, Node.js/pnpm, or Angular applications is advantageous.

• Familiarity with CI/CD, deployment, source-control, or release-management platforms.

• Experience with GitHub Enterprise Cloud, GitHub Actions, Argo CD, Octopus Deploy, or Terraform is preferred.

• Experience deploying applications to Kubernetes or Docker Swarm.

• Background in Agile/DevOps environments and familiarity with ITSM practices where applicable.

• Experience in supporting release activities, investigating build or deployment failures, and improving delivery processes.
