This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +17 more states.
• Provision, configure, and manage AWS infrastructure, including EC2, S3, EBS, RDS, VPCs, subnets, security groups, Route 53, Redshift, AWS Connect, SNS, and CloudFormation.
• Create and uphold infrastructure as code within version control, ensuring automated validation.
• Design S3 storage architecture, encompassing lifecycle policies, tiering, and retention strategies.
• Facilitate Redshift data warehouse ingestion from CRM systems, learning management systems, and partner institution feeds.
• Administer and secure RDS and Redshift by implementing least-privilege access, encryption, and network isolation.
• Establish and maintain IAM policies, KMS key management, and secrets management protocols.
• Support identity and access governance mechanisms, including SSO federation and ICAM integration.
• Integrate automated security scanning, dependency validation, and continuous monitoring into CI/CD pipelines.
• Assist with STIG implementation, Risk Management Framework, Authority to Operate activities, and remediation of vulnerabilities.
• Maintain deployment runbooks, rollback procedures, and change control documentation while achieving 99 percent availability.
• Plan and execute capacity scaling in response to growing student population and partner consortium needs.
• Enhance cloud cost visibility and optimization through tagging, rightsizing, orphaned resource cleanup, and commitment planning.
• Automate operational tasks using Python.
• Monitor and troubleshoot cloud systems to ensure high availability and swift incident resolution.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design secure, reliable, and performance-optimized cloud environments.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or a related discipline.
• Over 5 years of experience in cloud engineering or operations.
• Practical AWS experience across compute, storage, networking, and identity services.
• AWS network engineering experience, including VPC design, subnetting, routing, peering, Route 53, load balancing, and VPN or Direct Connect.
• Hands-on experience with infrastructure as code utilizing CloudFormation or Terraform.
• Expertise in IAM policy design, KMS, and implementing least-privilege access models.
• Experience in Linux system administration.
• Proficiency in Python for automation and scripting tasks.
• Practical experience with CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar tools.
• Familiarity with Git and version-controlled infrastructure workflows.
• Understanding of cloud security principles and hardening practices.
• Proven track record of automating manual operational tasks.
• Video is required during the interview process and for standups, sprint ceremonies, working sessions, and stakeholder meetings.
• USA Citizenship is mandatory.

• Must currently reside in, or be willing to relocate to, AL, AZ, CO, DC, DE, FL, GA, IL, IN, KS, LA, MD, MN, MS, NC, NJ, OH, PA, SC, TN, TX, or VA.
