Cloud Data Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take charge of and document the cloud data architecture within a multi-cloud setting, primarily focusing on Azure and Azure Databricks.

• Spearhead the modernization of data architecture, involving migration strategies, data modeling, and platform engineering.

• Design and implement strategies for governance, security, and compliance concerning sensitive Veteran PII and PHI.

• Facilitate the development of data science and AI/ML capabilities, including infrastructure for model deployment and data pipelines.

• Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and VA stakeholders to produce scalable, secure, and consumable data products.

• Assist in data ingestion, curation, and ensuring interoperability across various VA source systems.

• Create and maintain documentation on technical architecture, security strategies, and compliance artifacts.

• Perform additional related tasks as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in designing and managing enterprise cloud data architectures specifically in Azure.

• Practical experience with Azure Databricks for data engineering, analytics, and AI/ML workloads.

• Familiarity with Power BI or similar data visualization tools.

• Knowledge of AWS data services is advantageous.

• Strong expertise in data governance, security compliance, and federal data standards such as FISMA and NIST 800-53.

• Experience in large-scale data migration and modernization of architecture.

• Capability to produce coherent and detailed technical architecture documentation.

• Ability to thrive in a remote, collaborative Agile environment involving engineering, product, and government stakeholder teams.

• Excellent and transparent communication skills.
