Clinical Supervisor, RDN – Part-time

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Create a framework for establishing and expanding the CookUnity RDN network, encompassing clinical competencies, disease-area specializations, cultural and linguistic characteristics, as well as recruitment and vetting processes.

• Collaborate in developing nutrition protocols tailored to specific diseases such as diabetes, oncology, weight management with GLP-1s, and cardiovascular conditions.

• Establish frameworks for nutrition assessments, intake tools, flagging criteria, and escalation pathways.

• Design structured visit frameworks for nutrition education and counseling.

• Implement Motivational Interviewing, Stages of Change, and SMART goal-setting within care delivery standards.

• Set up culturally responsive practice standards.

• Create standards for clinical documentation, quality metrics, and outcome tracking.

• Build and maintain a clinical resource library that includes patient education materials, counseling tools, and handouts.

• Manage a direct-care caseload of approximately 8–12 active members.

• Perform comprehensive nutrition assessments and formulate individualized care plans that incorporate medically tailored meal planning.

• Provide evidence-based nutrition counseling and education.

• Work collaboratively with health plan care teams and care coordinators on care management and referral pathways.

• Offer clinical oversight and quality assurance for the RDN network.

• Conduct chart audits and clinical case reviews.

• Facilitate monthly peer review or case consultation sessions.

• Act as the primary clinical escalation point for complex, high-acuity, or ethically sensitive cases.

• Lead the onboarding and training processes for contracted and subcontracted RDNs.

• Identify training needs and organize continuing education or skill-building resources.

⛳️ Requirements

• Active Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential in good standing with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).

• Active state dietitian licensure where required by state of practice (e.g., CDN in New York).

• 5+ years of clinical RD experience with a significant focus on chronic disease management, including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, oncology, weight management, or related areas.

• Proven experience in delivering Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) and nutrition counseling to vulnerable, medically complex, and/or diverse patient populations.

• Knowledge of behavior change frameworks, particularly Motivational Interviewing.

• Strong clinical documentation skills and comfort with telehealth or virtual care delivery.

• Self-motivated and adept at establishing processes in a dynamic, start-up environment.

• CDCES — Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (strongly preferred; required for certain plan contracts).

• NBC-HWC — National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach.

• CSO — Board Certified Specialist in Oncology Nutrition.

• CSOWM — Board Certified Specialist in Obesity and Weight Management (especially relevant given GLP-1 meal line).

• Washington State Licensed Dietitian (LD) licensure, or willingness to obtain (preferred for current contract pipeline; licensure support available).

• FAND — Fellow of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

• Formal training or certification in Motivational Interviewing (MINT network or equivalent).

• Experience with medically tailored meal (MTM), food-as-medicine, or community-based nutrition programs.

• Previous experience supervising or mentoring RDNs, dietetic interns, or clinical nutrition staff.
