Clinical Database SME – Strategy, CDI Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Act as the clinical translation bridge between AKASA’s product and engineering teams.

• Convert intricate and unclear clinical scenarios into precise, clinically informed input for engineering and product teams.

• Relay local clinical practices from clients back to the team.

• Collaborate cross-functionally across strategy, engineering, and marketing to assess and enhance clinical foundations.

• Conduct independent analyses of clinical cases and consider clinical databases.

• Design and evaluate digital experiments in partnership with the engineering team.

• Utilize and develop internal tools to address challenges.

• Create Revenue Cycle training specification documents for both internal and customer-facing environments.

• Collaborate with Product Managers regarding timelines and deliverables.

• Enhance product development alongside internal teams and client partners.

• Interface with the RCO team on client Proof of Concept activities and Spec Validations.

• Oversee resources assigned to project-related tasks.

• Report directly to the VP of Clinical Strategy.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in nursing is required.

• An RN and CCDS certification is mandatory.

• A background in Business, Management, or a similar field and/or relevant experience is preferred.

• A minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in Coding and/or CDI departments within the revenue cycle or experience in a consulting or project management role is required.

• Experience in concurrent and retrospective CDI review is essential.

• Experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings is necessary.

• QA, documentation, and training experience is required.

• Strong analytical, research/data science, and project management capabilities are essential.

• Current credentials from AHIMA, AAPC, or ACDIS are necessary.

• Must be comfortable interacting with physicians, nurses, and administrators.

• Knowledge of the CDI process from frontline documentation to back-office billing codes is required.

• Experience with Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) process improvement cycles or nursing informatics research is a significant advantage.
