Claims Team Lead – Cargo

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Provide leadership and technical claim support to a Claims Manager.

• Supervise the work performed by the staff adjusting Commercial Transportation Cargo Claims.

• Balance management duties with hands-on claims work when the workload necessitates assistance.

• Alternate between claims management, coaching, and providing feedback.

• Develop and uphold best practices for claim intake, investigation, assessment, settlement, and recovery.

• Ensure the team aligns with client and customer expectations regarding the claims process.

• Act as a resource for escalated claims.

• Cultivate a positive workplace culture, encourage teamwork, and support professional growth and development.

• Attract, recruit, retain, and train new hires with assistance from the leadership team.

• Prepare and deliver claims reports, metrics, and analyses to clients and customers; provide insights on claim trends and loss mitigation strategies.

• Serve as a backup leader when the Manager is absent from the office.

• Manage direct reports effectively.

• Oversee initial onboarding tasks, access, and cultural immersion for new hires.

• Function as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for first-line inquiries, escalations, and roundtable discussions.

• Exercise elevated reserve and payment authority and assist with moderate reviews.

• Identify topics and trends for team meetings and Elevated Claims Experience Workshops.

• Act as a Customer Obsession Champion, promoting a customer-centric approach.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of insurance claims experience across various lines, with a preference for cargo claims or inland marine, along with some bodily injury experience.

• At least 3 years of leadership experience, ideally in a remote management role.

• An active adjuster license is required; a resident state license is preferred, or alternatively, a Designated Home State (DHS) license.

• Proficient with technology and capable of enhancing claims systems and processes to achieve greater efficiency and results.

• Proven dedication to quality, accuracy, and meticulous attention to detail.

• Demonstrated integrity, strong ethical standards, and accountability in managing confidential and sensitive information.
