Claims Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Evaluate and confirm insurance coverage for claims made against policyholders.

• Ensure claims files have timely and sufficient reserves; approve or suggest necessary adjustments.

• Delegate losses to claims personnel for resolution.

• Assess liability, damages, and causation; authorize settlements within designated authority.

• Provide updates on claims status to Claims leadership and participate in Reserve & Settlement Committee Meetings.

• Establish work processes, oversee schedules, and streamline workflow.

• Develop and maintain claims policies and procedures.

• Collaborate with other departments to coordinate services for insureds and clients.

• Perform quarterly audits of consultant case files.

• Supervise staff, identify training needs, and ensure adherence to claims handling standards.

• Monitor outcomes, suggest enhancements, and engage in strategic planning activities.

• Manage assigned personnel, including performance evaluations, time off requests, timecard management, recognition, and disciplinary matters.

• Oversee trials as needed.

• Assist in formulating claims-related marketing strategies and resources for client retention and new business development.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from an accredited four-year college or university.

• Preferred 8 years of experience in managing medical malpractice claims or significant bodily injury claims.

• At least 3 years of supervisory or management experience required.

• Extensive knowledge of medical practices and a good understanding of legal concepts and trends in litigation.

• Familiarity with insurance policy contracts, especially in medical malpractice and general liability.

• Formal education in nursing and/or law is advantageous, though not mandatory.
