This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +18 more states.
• Manage a varied portfolio of Homeowner and Commercial Property as well as General Liability claims, covering both litigated and non-litigated cases, habitational risks, premises liability, bodily injury incidents, and other non-auto claims, from investigation to resolution.
• Investigate, assess, and establish the insurer’s and policyholders’ liability regarding third-party damages and injuries.
• Resolve assigned claims promptly, accurately reserve funds, and handle claims equitably while adhering to state and company regulations.
• Review litigated complaints for appropriate management and collaborate with legal counsel to develop strategies.
• Collaborate with various external attorneys and provide guidance on liability and damage issues.
• Communicate and correspond with policyholders, agents, experts, and service providers to evaluate loss information.
• Calculate damages covered under the policy and process payments upon confirming liability.
• Assess and apply the insurance contract towards claim resolution.
• Create and maintain detailed notes in the electronic claims management system and related applications for claim handling.
• Review and assess large and complex injury demands and negotiate suitable resolutions.
• Supervise defense counsel to ensure efficient and accurate management of litigated cases.
• Over 5 years of experience as a casualty/general liability adjuster.
• More than 5 years of litigation experience in a multi-state setting.
• Strong technical background and practical experience in general liability and casualty claims.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and oversee defense counsel, formulate legal strategies, ensure appropriate experts are engaged, and contribute to cost control.
• Understanding of fundamental legal strategies in relation to venue specifics.
• Currently licensed or eligible for licensure as an adjuster in TX, FL, CA, and NY.
• Experience in drafting initial coverage letters is advantageous.
• Relevant experience with habitational risks, premises liability, and bodily injury matters is a plus.
• Experience in directing or monitoring outside defense counsel on litigated issues is beneficial.
• A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
• Proficiency in a Microsoft Office environment.
• Familiarity with using video and chat technologies (MS Teams & Slack).
• Knowledge of claims operating systems (IMS/LSS/Symbility).
