This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +18 more states.
• Act as Swyfft's technical expert for coverage analysis related to Homeowner and Commercial Property as well as General Liability claims, encompassing both litigated and non-litigated situations.
• Address coverage issues with empathy, curiosity, and innovative problem-solving to ensure prompt and equitable resolutions.
• Review coverage on designated claims, identifying coverage positions, gaps, and potential issues.
• Draft coverage-related correspondence, such as reservation of rights letters and letters of coverage denial.
• Communicate decisions on tender of defense and indemnification to policyholders, claimants, and legal counsel.
• Assess large or complex injury demands in relation to coverage and reserving decisions.
• Examine litigated complaints to ensure proper handling and formulate coverage-related legal strategies in collaboration with counsel.
• Supervise and coordinate multiple external attorneys concerning coverage positions and legal strategies.
• Correspond with policyholders, agents, experts, and service providers to collect information for thorough coverage analysis.
• Evaluate and apply insurance contracts to make informed coverage determinations.
• Develop and maintain detailed notes on claim handling within electronic claims management systems and related applications.
• Monitor defense and coverage counsel to ensure accurate and efficient handling, cost management, and litigation oversight.
• 5-7 years of experience managing coverage issues in property and casualty claims.
• 5-7 years of litigation experience in a multi-state context.
• Proficient in drafting coverage correspondence, including reservation of rights letters, coverage denial letters, and disclaimers.
• Solid understanding of property and casualty coverage issues, notably the duty to defend versus the duty to indemnify.
• Knowledge of basic legal strategies in relation to venue specifics.
• Experience in directing or overseeing outside defense/coverage counsel in litigated cases.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
• Proficient in MS Office applications.
• Familiarity with video and chat technologies such as MS Teams and Slack.
• Knowledge of claims operating systems (IMS/LSS/Symbility).
• Currently licensed or eligible for licensing as an adjuster in TX, FL, CA, and NY.
• Reliable high-speed internet connection.

• Relevant experience with habitational risks, premises liability, and bodily injury cases is advantageous.
