This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Manage claims of low to moderate complexity regarding material damage, property, and/or liability insurance lines.

• Perform liability investigations, assess coverage, and engage in negotiations.

• Interact with insured parties, claimants, witnesses, and other relevant individuals.

• Clearly articulate benefits, coverage details, fault assessments, and claims processes both verbally and in writing.

• Carry out phone and/or field investigations to assess liability and damages.

• Attend and take part in legal proceedings as required.

• Gather statements from insured parties, claimants, and witnesses.

• Assess and determine claim values utilizing data related to property, bodily injury, and liability.

• Negotiate within the limits of settlement authority to resolve both first- and third-party claims.

• Manage administrative tasks and update database production reports.

• Document and maintain claim files using company systems such as CACS, HUON, HOC, and Guidewire.

• Verify coverage details and interpret policy applicability.

• Collaborate with internal and external departments.

• Address claim exposures within established authority limits.

• Respond promptly to customer needs and issues.

• Occasionally travel to off-site business meetings or conferences.


⛳️ Requirements

• A combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree is preferred.

• A minimum of 4-6 years of prior experience in claims handling is required.

• Preferred 4-6 years of experience in property or casualty claims administration.

• Familiarity with best practices and procedures in claims management.

• Moderate understanding of building and vehicle repair processes.

• General knowledge of insurance principles, fault assessment, negligence, and subrogation.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, general computer software, and claims management software.

• Strong organizational and planning skills are essential.

• Excellent oral and written communication abilities are required.

• Strong interpersonal skills are necessary.

• A valid driver's license, a satisfactory Department of Motor Vehicles record, and state-required minimum liability insurance are mandatory.

• An Associate in Claims designation from the Insurance Institute of America is preferred.

• An insurance/claims adjuster license may be required in certain states; this is preferred.
