This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut.
• Manage low-complexity commercial auto claims that include physical damage, property damage, total loss, fuel spills, medical payments, and cargo damage.
• Initiate and maintain prompt contact with insureds, claimants, witnesses, vendors, and other relevant parties.
• Provide updates, clarify new information, and communicate the effects on liability assessments and settlement alternatives.
• Work collaboratively with vendors to ensure timely appraisals and evaluations of damage.
• Assess coverage by utilizing policy details and loss-related facts or claims.
• Convey coverage decisions and revise coverage analysis as new information becomes available.
• Ensure adherence to jurisdictional and statutory obligations.
• Obtain and refresh claim information throughout the entire claims process.
• Complete necessary data entry and reporting requirements.
• Establish, maintain, and document initial and subsequent loss and expense reserves.
• Investigate claims through strategic interactions with policyholders, witnesses, law enforcement, agents, medical providers, and technical specialists.
• Conduct interviews with witnesses and stakeholders, taking recorded or written statements where appropriate.
• Assess recovery potential and manage or direct recovery initiatives.
• Utilize diary management systems to ensure claims are processed in a timely and compliant manner.
• Collaborate with external vendors, including appraisers and independent adjusters.
• Oversee total loss processes, which include vehicle appraisals, diminished value assessments, vendor networks, subrogation requests, salvage procedures, and heavy equipment appraisals.
• Perform additional functions as assigned.
• A minimum of 1 year of experience in casualty claim handling, with a preference for trucking-related experience.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in computer applications, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
• Previous experience in customer service or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
• A willingness to learn and enhance knowledge is essential.
• Must secure independent adjuster licenses for all states that require them, including AL, CT, GA, FL, ME, MS, NY, NC, SC, TN, and TX.
• Licenses must be obtained within 90 days of employment, which involves coursework, testing, and background checks that may include fingerprinting.
• A college degree is preferred, or equivalent work experience is acceptable.
• Business-related travel may be required, estimated at less than 5% of the time.
