Civil/Structural Forensic Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Gabon, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Execute forensic investigations

• Perform field observations, testing, and data gathering

• Create technical reports that outline observations, testing outcomes, research, analysis, and recommendations or opinions

• Offer consultations to clients

• Develop and present technical papers

• Act as an expert witness

• Examine roofing, fenestration, foundations, and building envelopes for residential, commercial, and industrial properties

• Evaluate hazards and the resulting damages

• Analyze design and construction defects

• Conduct evaluations of premises liability

• Meet with and present findings to peers and clients

• Participate in client relations, business development, and marketing efforts

• Regularly travel to local and regional project locations

• Perform site inspections utilizing ladders and working at heights


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited institution

• Possession of a PE or SE license

• Highly qualified and seasoned EI/EITs will be considered

• 0 to 5 years of experience as a forensic engineer

• Experience or willingness to learn climbing moderate to steep-pitched roofs using hand rope assist, rope-and-harness, aerial lifts, etc.

• Willingness to work at elevated heights

• Knowledge of current building codes and industry standards

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

• Exceptional verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills

• Willingness to travel and perform site inspections

• Motivation to learn, excel, and grow within the company and the profession

• Preferred experience in engineering design or construction

• Prior experience conducting damage assessments and forensic investigations is advantageous but not mandatory

• Experience with storm damage and building envelope evaluations is a plus

• Capability to lift up to 50 pounds

• Ability to travel to various project sites and conduct field investigations

• Proficiency to work at heights and in varying hot and cold environments, both indoors and outdoors

• Competence to access and work on pitched roofs, scaffolds, lifts, elevated surfaces, attics, and crawlspaces with appropriate personal protective equipment

• Physical ability to lift, transport, set up, and utilize an extension ladder

• Physical capability to climb, stand, walk, kneel, and crouch for extended durations

• Willingness and ability to use a valid driver’s license for local and regional travel
