Civil/Structural Forensic Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Gabon.

📋 Description

• Conduct forensic examinations for residential, commercial, and industrial properties

• Carry out field observations, testing, and data gathering

• Develop technical reports that outline observations, testing outcomes, research, analyses, and recommendations or opinions

• Offer consultation services to clients

• Create and present technical papers

• Act as an expert witness

• Assess roofing, fenestration, foundations, building envelopes, hazards, damage, design and construction flaws, and premises liability

• Meet with peers and clients to deliver presentations

• Participate in client relations, business development, and marketing activities

• Travel frequently to local and regional project sites

• Work at heights and access elevated surfaces during investigations

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited institution

• PE or SE license required

• 0 to 5 years of experience as a forensic engineer; highly qualified EI/EITs will be considered

• Experience and/or willingness to learn climbing moderate to steep-pitched roofs utilizing hand rope assist, rope-and-harness, aerial lifts, etc.

• Must be willing to work at heights

• Familiarity with current building codes and industry standards

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

• Exceptional verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills

• Willingness to travel and perform site inspections

• Eagerness to learn, excel, and advance within the company and profession

• Valid Driver's License required

• Capability to lift up to 50 pounds

• Must be able to travel to various project sites and carry out field investigations

• Ability to work in both hot and cold conditions, indoors and outdoors

• Must be able to access and work on pitched roofs, scaffolding, lifts, elevated surfaces, enclosed areas, attics, and crawlspaces with appropriate personal protection equipment

• Capable of lifting, transporting, setting up, and using an extension ladder

• Physically fit to climb, stand, walk, kneel, and crouch for extended periods
