This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Develop and implement intricate protection solutions for generation, transmission, and distribution systems catering to utility and industrial clients.
• Design and create microgrid solutions, focusing on power flow optimization and dispatch algorithms.
• Conduct engineering studies and analyses, including short circuit, load flow, ground grid design, lightning protection, insulation coordination, arc-flash, and coordination studies for protective devices.
• Generate relay setting files that include the programming of protection and control components, control logic, and communication settings for GE and third-party protective relays.
• Test tailored protection and control solutions both in-house and at customer locations.
• Model and execute power system simulations utilizing the RTDS simulator or a similar tool.
• Provide factory acceptance test plans and testing services for validation of protection designs witnessed by customers.
• Organize site acceptance tests and offer field support during the commissioning of new applications.
• Contribute to the development of software tools aimed at automating engineering processes internally and with utility partners.
• Engage in project meetings alongside project managers and customers for technical discussions.
• Report to the Grid Automation North America Operations Director as part of the regional Projects and Services execution team.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical and Computer Engineering with a specialization in power systems.
• Seven (7) years of experience in the design, study, and analysis of electric power systems.
• Familiarity with power system steady-state and transient analysis, fault studies, protection theory, and symmetrical components.
• Willingness to represent the company and apply for necessary permits to provide engineering services.
• Experience with Mathcad, MATLAB, ASPEN, CAPE, SKM, CDEGS, WinIGS, or ETAP.
• Knowledge of substation communication protocols such as IEC 61850, DNP, and Modbus.
• Practical experience with system commissioning and testing, including the use of Doble / Omicron test equipment or similar tools.
• Technical skills to execute projects, identify opportunities, and draft Statements of Work (SOW) proposals.
• Capability to estimate engineering efforts for customer proposals and projects.
• Proficient in technical report writing, as well as using MS Word and Excel.
• Strong communication skills, including technical writing and presentation abilities.
• Professional engineering accreditation is a plus, but not mandatory.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
