Civil/Structural Forensic Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Gabon.

📋 Description

• Perform field observations, testing, and data collection.

• Create technical reports that outline observations, testing outcomes, research, analysis, and recommendations or opinions.

• Collaborate with peers and present findings to clients.

• Participate in client relations, business development, and marketing activities.

• Conduct forensic investigations and offer consultation services.

• Prepare and present technical papers.

• Act as an expert witness.

• Assess roofing, fenestration, foundations, and envelopes for residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.

• Carry out hazard assessments and evaluate resulting damage.

• Analyze design and construction defects.

• Perform premises liability assessments.

• Regularly travel to local and regional project sites to conduct inspections.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited institution.

• Possession of a PE or SE license.

• Highly qualified and experienced EI/EIT candidates will be considered.

• 0 to 5 years of experience in forensic engineering.

• Experience or willingness to learn climbing moderate to steep-pitched roofs using hand rope assist, rope-and-harness, aerial lifts, etc.

• Must be willing to work at heights.

• Familiarity with current building codes and industry standards.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong interpersonal abilities.

• Willingness to travel and perform site inspections.

• Valid Driver's License is required.

• Experience in engineering design or construction is preferred.

• Experience in conducting damage assessments and forensic investigations is preferred but not mandatory.

• Background in storm damage and building envelope evaluations is a plus.

• Capability to lift up to 50 pounds.

• Ability to work in varying temperatures, both indoors and outdoors.

• Competence to access and work on pitched roofs, scaffolds, lifts, elevated surfaces, enclosed spaces, attics, and crawlspaces with appropriate personal protection.

• Ability to lift, transport, set up, and utilize an extension ladder.

• Physical capability to climb, stand, walk, kneel, and crouch for extended durations.
