
Civil Design Manager – Data Center Sites

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Manage greenfield projects as well as add/move/change initiatives for colocation and hyperscale data centers from the due diligence phase to construction administration.
• Lead teams focused on data center due diligence, planning, and design.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time and maintain a high standard of quality.
• Create prototype designs, conduct test fits, manage mass grading, oversee stormwater management, utility prepositioning and design, as well as on- and off-site roadway development.
• Establish and uphold multi-site project and program management strategies.
• Organize and participate in meetings with clients and external stakeholders.
• Oversee and convey project modifications within AECOM and to clients.
• Recognize and address project risks with innovative solutions.
• Provide project updates and resolve any outstanding issues.
• Prepare technical and financial proposals for data center design initiatives.
• Build and maintain relationships with clients and subcontractor/partner consultants.
• Mentor junior staff and assist in their professional development.
• Promote accountability, innovation, and strategic thinking.
• Collaborate with global AECOM data center teams on prominent projects.
• Travel occasionally for client meetings, significant project milestones, onsite collaboration sessions, or other essential business activities.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering along with eight (8) years of relevant experience, or proven equivalency of experience and/or education.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) License is required.
• Proven experience with colocation and hyperscale data center projects.
• Master’s degree in Civil or Construction Engineering, or Business Administration is preferred.
• Six years of relevant experience in industrial and data center design and/or project management is preferred.
• Lean Six Sigma Certification is preferred.
• Uptime Institute Accredited Tier Professional is preferred.
• Active or recent leadership in a data center and mission-critical trade organization is preferred.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential.
• Capability to operate in dynamic, time-sensitive environments with minimal oversight.
• Proven team leadership abilities.
• Strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
