This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas, +1 more state.
• Lead teams in data center due diligence, planning, and design for greenfield and colocation or hyperscale data center projects involving additions, relocations, and modifications.
• Supervise projects from the due diligence phase and campus planning through conceptual, schematic, and detailed design, including the preparation of construction documents and administration.
• Deliver on prototype development, test fitting, mass grading, stormwater management, utility prepositioning and design, as well as on-site and off-site roadway planning.
• Establish and enforce project and program management plans across multiple sites.
• Facilitate and participate in meetings with clients and external stakeholders.
• Effectively manage and communicate project modifications within AECOM and to clients.
• Identify potential project risks and devise innovative solutions to mitigate them.
• Provide updates on project status and address unresolved issues with stakeholders.
• Create technical and financial proposals for new and modification projects in data center design.
• Cultivate trusting relationships with clients and partner consultants.
• Mentor junior staff and assist in their professional development.
• Encourage accountability, innovation, and strategic thinking within the team.
• Collaborate with global AECOM data center teams on high-profile initiatives.
• Engage in hands-on, client-facing tasks with occasional travel for meetings, milestones, on-site collaboration, or critical business activities.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, accompanied by eight (8) years of relevant experience or a demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) License required.
• Proven experience in colocation and hyperscale data center projects.
• Experience overseeing civil and utility infrastructure design for industrial and data center projects.
• Background in civil engineering is essential.
• Master’s degree in Civil or Construction Engineering, or Business Administration is preferred.
• Six years of applicable experience in industrial and data center design and/or project management is preferred.
• Lean Six Sigma Certification is a plus.
• Uptime Institute Accredited Tier Professional designation is preferred.
• Recent or active leadership role in a data center and mission-critical trade organization is advantageous.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
• Ability to thrive in dynamic, time-sensitive environments with minimal oversight.
• Leadership skills are essential for team management.
• Strong interpersonal and presentation abilities are required.
• Capability to work remotely from a U.S. location where AECOM has an office.
• Must be able to attend in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office.
