This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Act as a vital member of the interdisciplinary care team for pediatric palliative care patients and their families in home and community environments.
• Create and provide child life support that addresses developmental, emotional, and psychosocial needs.
• Evaluate the developmental and psychosocial requirements and coping mechanisms of children and their siblings.
• Formulate, execute, and assess child life service plans.
• Offer medical play, expressive techniques, education, procedural assistance, developmental support, and psychosocial interventions.
• Foster safe and nurturing environments within homes, schools, and community settings.
• Deliver developmentally suitable diagnostic teaching and caregiver education.
• Promote expressive and therapeutic play, grief support, bereavement, memory-making, and legacy initiatives.
• Advocate for children and families, conveying their aspirations to the care team.
• Design age-appropriate programming that encourages peer support and mitigates isolation.
• Document all communications and interventions.
• Engage in Interdisciplinary Group meetings.
• Meet departmental productivity benchmarks.
• Collaborate with facility-based child life staff to ensure cohesive care.
• Uphold privacy, integrity, attendance, and adherence to organizational policies.
• Execute additional tasks as assigned by management.
• A Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) certification from the Association of Child Life Professionals is mandatory.
• A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is required.
• A Bachelor’s degree in child life, psychology, child development, or human services is essential.
• Must possess the ability to travel.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills are necessary.
• Basic computer proficiency, including familiarity with Windows-based operating systems, email, and basic electronic documentation is required.
• Capability to learn and apply new systems, computer applications, and operating environments with appropriate training.
• A valid license, physical readiness, and flexibility for extended or on-call schedules are typically essential for this clinical role.
