Chief Product Officer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the ARK product during a crucial scale-up year.

• Oversee the review of the ARK platform to enhance its readiness for enterprise applications.

• Provide guidance for the deployment of ARK ecosystem products across various regions.

• Establish product and institutional requirements and set priorities for upgrades in infrastructure, security, and privacy.

• Facilitate the integration of ARK's API gateway with national health information systems.

• Act as the primary liaison for IMACS with client organizations.

• Define the product roadmap and establish release priorities based on the needs of public health programs and stakeholders.

• Prioritize disease coverage and use-cases in accordance with country demand and IMACS's research and development agenda.

• Develop and report on product metrics regarding adoption, reliability, data coverage, timeliness, and decision impact.

• Lead the operational enhancement of existing deployments in Asian and African nations.

• Collaborate directly with ministries of health and national public health institutes.

• Design and implement a repeatable onboarding process for countries, including data agreements, data-steward roles, and governance frameworks.

• Spearhead institutional engagement to open ARK's API gateway to national health systems and integration partners.

• Set standards for integration, access controls, and partner support processes.

• Define and validate workflow requirements for interoperability with national health information systems, laboratory and AMR surveillance systems, and meteorological data services.

• Establish product requirements and acceptance criteria for self-scaling, multi-region infrastructure, tiered AI request routing, and protection against demand spikes.

• Ensure engineering delivery aligns with established timelines.

• Define institutional security and data governance expectations including data-access auditing, change management, and incident response.

• Guide the platform through a formal review and assessment process.

• Serve as the main technical counterpart for the independent evaluation of ARK.

• Lead the creation of publications and presentations.

• Represent IMACS in discussions with donors, UN agencies, regional public health institutions, development banks, enterprises, and other development partners.

⛳️ Requirements

• An advanced degree in public health, epidemiology, medicine, health services research, or a closely related field.

• Over 12 years of experience in clinical and health environments, ideally in infectious disease surveillance, epidemic preparedness, or health system strengthening.

• Extensive experience collaborating with or within ministries of health in Africa and/or Asia.

• Direct experience with digital health architecture and data interoperability in low- and middle-income countries.

• Experience facilitating the transition of ministries to national health information platforms.

• Understanding of national data sovereignty considerations.

• Background in managing or providing technical leadership for multi-country, donor-funded initiatives, including work planning, budgeting, and results monitoring.

• Established relationships with donors, UN agencies, regional public health institutions, development banks, enterprises, and other development partners.

• Applied epidemiological and analytical skills sufficient to evaluate model outputs and guide data scientists.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Proven capability to convene expert groups, synthesize evidence, and convey technical trade-offs to senior government and donor representatives.

• Willingness to travel internationally, estimated at 25–30%.

• Preferred: Clinical background and experience in frontline outbreak response.

• Preferred: Expertise in antimicrobial resistance and One Health surveillance.

• Preferred: Familiarity with WHO normative processes such as technical advisory groups, guideline development, or IHR (2005) implementation.
