Chief Operating Officer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Report directly to Al Hleileh, CEO and Co-Founder.

• Oversee the commercial and operational framework, aligning product, operations, and commercial functions towards a unified growth objective.

• Create and personally evaluate dashboards, establish reporting schedules, and manage performance metrics.

• Take ownership of commercial and operational results with a General Manager and Profit & Loss perspective.

• Recruit and supervise a Commercial Lead.

• Assist in developing the business model and transforming growth into a sustainable, higher-margin operation.

• Set the pace, make practical trade-offs, and direct the team toward quantifiable priorities.

• Establish trust with public sector clients and ensure that commercial endeavors can endure scrutiny.

• Develop the commercial and operational framework necessary for Civic Marketplace's expansion.

• Collaborate closely with the CEO and a small team of operators and engineers.

⛳️ Requirements

• US-based candidates are preferred; remote work is available with regular travel.

• Possess founder-level accountability and ownership for results.

• Recent hands-on operational experience is essential.

• Proven experience in constructing commercial or operational systems from the ground up, preferably in a fast-paced or early-stage setting.

• Strong quantitative skills, including proficiency in dashboards, cohorts, and unit economics.

• Capability to operate with practicality and speed amid uncertainty.

• Leadership skills to mentor and elevate standards without a large team.

• Low ego with high standards; must be direct, inquisitive, and open to being challenged.

• Mission-oriented, with a genuine interest in the public sector.

• Experience as a General Manager, Chief Operating Officer, or Chief of Staff in an early-stage company, or experience in marketplace, regulated, or compliance-heavy sectors is particularly desirable.

• Must address work authorization requirements in the United States.

• Willingness to undergo a background check in compliance with local laws and regulations.
