This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.
• Oversee the engineering leadership cadence, which includes director-level syncs, agendas, documented decisions, and follow-through.
• Assume responsibility for the quarterly OKR and QBR cycle, which encompasses objective updates, follow-ups, issue escalation, and preparation for reviews.
• Keep an up-to-date record of leadership decisions and commitments and ensure their timely execution.
• Identify stalled or unassigned cross-team initiatives and assign ownership to restore progress.
• Manage special projects through chartering and handoff, including work distribution models, data team setup, vendor selection, security consulting, AI-agent programs, audits, platform evaluations, and tool pilots.
• Transform complex organizational and project inputs into clear, decision-ready materials for the CTO, executive team, and board.
• Facilitate decisions that have been delegated to their documented closure and communicate the outcomes effectively.
• Standardize planning, tracking, and communication for engineering leadership using rituals, templates, and operating rhythms.
• Collaborate across the organization on cross-cutting initiatives, procurement, pilot contracts, and engineering tool budgeting.
• Establish operational cadence, identify ownerless initiatives, take charge of the OKR/QBR loop, and set baselines within the first 90 days.
• Proven experience managing the operational systems of an engineering organization as a TPM lead, head of engineering operations, or in a similar role.
• Experience in cadence management, planning, and cross-team coordination at an organizational level.
• Demonstrated capability to lead ambiguous, multi-team initiatives through influence without direct authority.
• Proficiency in converting complex information into concise, executive-level materials.
• Ability to create robust operating systems and follow-up mechanisms.
• An engineering background that allows participation in architecture discussions, identification of team roadblocks, and appropriate escalation.
• Established credibility with engineers, engineering managers, and directors through reliability and follow-through.
• Proficient in English at a C1 level for both written and verbal technical communication with internal and external audiences.
• Fluent in both English and Russian.
• Nice-to-have: previous experience as a Chief of Staff, in Engineering Operations, or as a TPM lead reporting to engineering leadership.
• Nice-to-have: experience in engineering organizations with over 100 employees, and familiarity with automation and AI tools.
• Nice-to-have: background in procurement, vendor contracting, or budgeting.
• Nice-to-have: knowledge of nonprofit technology or the payments domain.
• Nice-to-have: familiarity with Node.js/NestJS, React, MongoDB, ClickHouse, Kafka, Cloudflare, PCI DSS 4.0.1, SOC 2 Type II, and ISO 27001.
